Ajay Devgn, Tabu & Shriya Saran-Starrer 'Drishyam 2' Goes On Floors

The much talked about sequel to the blockbuster Drishyam has now gone on floors and I’m super thrilled with this news. I’ve loved the first part and all of us know such a rage it became. On a lighter note, we all know right that what’s on October 2? That’s the kind of reach the film had!

So, the good news is that Ajay Devgn has stepped into Vijay Salgaonkar’s shoes all over again with Tabu, Shriya Saran and Ishita Dutta joining him. The sequel can be expected to have even a wider reach than the first part with its theme. Drishyam 2 is set to begin 7 years after the first part left us and this one promises to be a crime-thriller now.

Talking about it, Devgn shares,

“Drishyam was loved and I am now elated to present yet another interesting story with Drishyam 2. Vijay is a multidimensional character and he creates an engaging narrative onscreen. Abhishek Pathak (director) has a fresh vision for this film. I’m keenly looking forward to part 2, filling in the large shoes of the earlier film with people investing in the mystery and the characters.”

Interestingly, Abhishek Pathak is set to direct the sequel. The film has gone on floors in Mumbai and will be extensively shot in Goa in the coming days. Pathak who has earlier directed Ujda Chaman and won a national award for his short film Boond  is excited to helm Drishyam 2.

He says,

“Making an official remake of a successful franchise film is an honour and a challenge. An opportunity to work along with someone like Ajay Devgn, who is such a powerhouse of talent is a morale-booster for any creative person; his unique influence is undoubtedly the most enriching experience for me personally. It’s exciting to retell a story from your own perspective and vision by divergent visuals in the most justified yet extraordinary way. The setting and the mood of the film uplifts the very essence of the crux making it gripping from the very beginning.’’

Viacom 18 along with Kumar Mangat Pathak’s Panorama Studios and Bhushan Kumar’s T-series is set to present the film.

Bhushan Kumar of T-series says,

“Ajay Devgn’s powerpack performance and prowess in Drishyam definitely captivated the audiences. Retaining the zest, we are delighted to begin filming its sequel that will take this franchise a notch higher as the audiences will witness double suspense, double mystery, double drama.”

I’m all excited for Drishyam 2 and more than that, I’m excited to know what the Salgaonkar family does this time around! Can’t wait for it.
