Exclusive! Ishwak Singh : 'One Will See Honesty In All Aspects Of Rocket Boys'

Actor Ishwak Singh has proven to be this dark horse I feel, because he’s been such a revelation – first in Paatal Lok and now with Rocket Boys. There surely is a certain amount of honesty seen in his eyes in the characters he’s played so far, and the fact that he’s so subtle yet to impactful is what I like about him.

The actor who plays Dr. Vikram Sarabhai in Rocket Boys, says he loves playing characters which involve research.

Ishwak Singh shares,

“I did end up playing historical and research-based characters on stage, while doing theatre. The fun there is that, when you take on this journey, there are these revelations which happen about the character and yourself, which is why, it’s almost like a treasure hunt for me. To be honest to the character and the period and the emotion – all this is not devoid of each other. It all goes hand-in-hand. One of the things Nikhil Advani and Abhay Pannu told me, is that, you’re not just playing Vikram Sarabhai, you are playing Vikram. So, that stayed with me and that helped finding the relatability. When you relate to a person, you realise that this is something which has happened in my life. Because we belong to humanity. We are the same people. There’s always going to be something common between people and you just have to find that relatable emotion. I don’t know whether form follows function and function follows form, but they are both inseperable.”

Interestingly, Ishwak’s architectural background also influences his approach in acting. But the one thing which the actor is proud of, when it comes to Rocket Boys is the whole team’s effort.

He added,

“One will see honesty in all aspects of Rocket Boys – be it the makers or the writers or the actors. Everyone has put in a lot of hard work. The last day when we were done with the shoot, the energy level was just the same as the first day. There was something magical about it.”

I agree! The honesty definitely shows. Singh also admits that he loves being a part of such projects to be able to collaborate with such a creative team and great artists like Jim Sarbh who plays Dr. Homi Bhabha in the series. Looking forward to seeing much more of Ishwak in different roles. Meanwhile, Abhay Pannu directed Rocket Boys, created by Nikhil Advani and produced by Roy Kapur Films and Emmay Entertainment, is now streaming on SonyLIV.
